Fear, Optimism, Healing
There was a period around 2010 when many friends were battling breast cancer at a young age. When I look at Grace's painting, Hope For My Images, it gathers those struggles, anxieties, and fears. The pieces that follow echo how positive thinking energizes healing light through the darkness when frightened. Culminating in the artwork Healing. Being healed of disease does not mean one is free of the scars of battle physical or emotional. Healing to me, reminds me that the anxieties and fears are never fully gone, but remain to help keep our guard up for future dangers through the survival.

Segments of Time
Be in the moment. Life and time move fast. My attention span has never been the longest or most patient. The flowers and plants in the artwork are collected at times Grace is often observing, cherishing, enjoying her experience in and with nature. Sometimes when we're on a walk, she'll pause at wildlife for minutes or longer. I become impatient perhaps walking further ahead trying to pull her at a faster pace to me. Fortunately, she is unhurried. From her pauses around our travels, she has captured the feeling of calmness in her art. To me they reflect her ability to be in the moment. These pieces remind me that each time segment of our lives are important moments that make us who we are. Be in the moment. Life and time move fast.
